Story 3 of 10

Goals and improvement cycles

Every goal carries a target, a timeline, an owner, a status, the evidence behind it and the next action — recorded during normal teaching.

A goal is never a number on its own. It carries a target, a timeline, an owner, a status, the evidence behind it and the next action — and it moves through one loop that ends in a report leadership can trace back to every record.

Improvement cycles this term

Four synthetic cycles in four different states, on purpose.

Changes requested

Address the reviewer's request: The differentiation note describes what was taught but not what changed. Add the re-check result, and say what the middle group can now do without the visual.

One loop, eight steps

Recorded once, during normal teaching, and reused everywhere.

  1. Goal

A target, a baseline, a timeline and an owner.

  2. Teaching plan

The methods the teacher intends to use.

  3. Evidence

What was actually taught, recorded during normal teaching.

  4. Mastery reading

What the checks show, by objective — confirmed or corrected by a person.

  5. Support action

A plan for the students the evidence names, with a due date.

  6. Leadership review

A chair or head approves, requests changes or returns it.

  7. Accreditation evidence

The same records mapped to the framework the school answers to.

  8. Traceable report

A snapshot that cites every record it summarises.

Archive, never delete
A cycle can be archived with a reason, and an archived cycle is kept for the record. Nothing that leadership reviewed can disappear from under the person who reviewed it.
